RTOG Biospecimen Resource

The RTOG Biospecimen Resource, located at the University of California San Francisco, is the central repository of biospecimens collected from cancer patients enrolled in RTOG clinical trials. Samples, including unstained slides, tissue blocks, frozen and fresh tissue and fluids like plasma or serum from various disease sites are stored at the RTOG Biospecimen Resource. Extensive clinical follow-up data exist on the patients. The aim of the Biospecimen Resource is to provide annotated patient samples to qualified investigators who have significant research hypotheses that require the use of such specimens. De-identified samples are distributed to qualified outside researchers who comply with Biospecimen Resource access policies and are funded to carry out projects. Requests for RTOG biospecimens are best made before submission of a research grant or contract to a funding agency to assure the availability of the tissue for the study.
